Questions before you decide
Why can one ERP proposal cost three times as much?
A large price difference does not automatically make one proposal overpriced. The proposals may cover different scopes, assumptions and responsibilities.
Where the problem starts
One price may include migration, integrations, training and support while another treats them as additional work. Even the same module name does not guarantee coverage of the same business scenarios. Comparing final totals alone can hide significant costs and delivery risks.
What to check first
- Map both proposals to the same requirements and concrete deliverables.
- Identify included work, exclusions and responsibilities assigned to your team.
- Compare licensing, migration, integrations, support and future changes.
- Request demonstrations of critical scenarios and clear acceptance criteria.
First step
A decision before a solution
Ask suppliers to revise their proposals against a common scope. Evaluate total cost, requirement coverage and delivery risk, with remaining uncertainties made explicit.
