Power BI cannot fix poor data on its own
If the same metric differs between two reports, another dashboard will not resolve the cause. Start with the sources, definitions and ownership of the data.
Where the problem starts
Different posting dates, duplicate customers or inconsistent revenue definitions can produce conflicting results that each look plausible. The fault may sit in the source, the data transfer or the calculation. Without tracing it, a reporting project can improve presentation while leaving the numbers unreliable.
What to check first
- Trace one disputed metric from its source transaction to the report.
- Agree the reporting period, filters, currency and calculation rule.
- Check duplicates, missing fields and refresh delays.
- Assign responsibility for confirming accuracy and correcting source errors.
First step
A decision before a solution
Start with one report whose numbers finance and operations can both validate. Expand the model and reporting once that foundation is reliable.
